Finding the Best Nail Salon, 2010, 2011 Tips

Finding the Best Nail Salon, 2010, 2011 Tips

So you’ve decided on fake nails. You’ve read the good, bad and the ugly about them, and you know what you’re getting yourself into. So now what? If you’ve never gotten a manicure before, it can be very overwhelming to choose a nail salon to go for it. Here are some great tips on finding and using a nail salon that is right for you and your tastes.

Ask around – one of the most important tools you can use to help you find a great nail salon is your loved ones. Ask some gals you trust to tell you where they go and why they go there. Ask how things work, how much it costs, what they usually get, and what they offer. You’ll feel much less foolish asking your girlfriends all of these questions than when you get there, trust us! And gal friends are often the most honest and understanding of all people you could ask. Think about it, is a nail salon going to tell you if they have bad customer service? No, you’ll find that out the hard way if you don’t figure it out beforehand.

Decide what you want – first time manicures can be scary on their own, so it won’t help if the salesperson and specialist is trying to talk you into two inch nails in neon orange because “they’re in style.” Deciding what you want based on your taste, style and lifestyle is the most important thing you can do to avoid giving in to something you don’t want that’s overpriced, just because you’re overwhelmed.

Check on them – stop by for a visit during one of their very busy times of day to see what they’re like. Are they rushing because they’re packed? Are they ignoring a pile of dirty utensils, or worse, REUSING them? Do they greet you pleasantly or ignore you? The answers to these questions and more can clue you in on what this business is really all about, and if the answer is yes at all to the first or second questions, RUN screaming from that salon! Not only is it unsanitary, but dangerous to do either.

Tips on Choosing Fake Nails

Tips on Choosing Fake Nails

Fake nails can be very beautiful, natural looking, and elegant depending on the type and your personal style. Choosing to have fake nails and the specifics of them, however, can be overwhelming, confusing and even frustrating if you end up picking the wrong ones. It is important to take several things into consideration and know your options before you dive into a salon chair and tell them to go wild.

The biggest thing you need to consider when getting fake nails is your lifestyle. Fake nails range from active or short lengths to mega-long, claw-like lengths. If you are a mother of four with a busy schedule, a typing job and buttons to fasten for your kids, you aren’t likely to want those claw-like lengths, no matter how great they may look to you. Alternatively, if you don’t own anything with a button, have no trouble with day-to-day activities and love the look of long nails, you are of course free to choose those. Just remember as a general rule that everything gets at least a little bit harder with fake nails on – it’s up to you to decide if your life can handle that adjustment period.

Another thing to consider about getting fake nails is that of what they should look like. Do you want them to be very appropriate to your skin tone and elegant style, or do you not mind if they look a little fake as long as they’re loud and fun? Many women choose a very short style with a French tip for a versatile look, but others like a very loud solid color on theirs for a more fun style. Consider your wardrobe, daily activities and personal preferences when you go in. And always try to have a plan for what you want. Often, women go into a salon asking advice and come out with something they neither wanted or can function in – having a plan can help solve this problem for you. Ask your friends who have similar lifestyles or do some research online.
